Dyspnea: How to Assess and Palliate Dyspnea (Air-Hunger)

 

Dyspnea is a subjective sensation, so the only way to assess dyspnea is to ask the patient.

Intensity of dyspenea can be assessed by bedside observation (unable to talk or eat uninterupted for breath) and by caregiver reports.
