Description: The rectus abdominis m. are located medially
in the anterior abdominal wall. They originate superiorly from the xiphoid
process and costal cartilages 5-7 and insert onto the pubis
and pubic symphysis distally. These muscles are divided transversely with
3-4 tendinous intersections, and they are wrapped by the rectus sheath.
The circulation to the
m. distally flows superiorly via the inferior
epigastric a. at the lateral margin of the m. Innervation
is from T8-L2 via the thoracoabdominal
